About

Welcome to my blog! I’m Karley, a junior studying accounting at Georgia College, and this is where I’ll be documenting my time in Peru through the Corporate Leadership & Sustainability study abroad program.

This trip is a little different from a typical study abroad experience. Our program is built around real-world business and sustainability issues – think corporate social responsibility, environmental law, and how companies operating in places like Peru navigate all of that. We’ll be meeting with local business professionals, visiting companies firsthand, and exploring how concepts like conflict resolution and sustainable development actually play out outside of a classroom.

I’ve spent the last few months researching topics like alternative dispute resolution in Peru, corporate sustainability practices among Peruvian companies, and the country’s broader environmental policy landscape. Now I get to see it in person, which honestly feels kind of surreal.

On this blog, you’ll find a mix of things: weekly recaps of where we went and what we did, deeper dives into the business and sustainability topics we’re studying, food and culture moments (because Peru’s culinary scene is incredible and I’m very excited about it), and honest reflections on what it’s actually like to learn outside of a traditional classroom setting.

Whether you’re a future student thinking about study abroad, a professor following along, or just someone curious about Peru, I hope this gives you something worth reading.

Thanks for being here!
